Term Life Insurance for 35-Year-Olds in Ontario (August 2026 Sample Rates)
September 2, 2026 · 6 min read
If you are 35 and looking at term life in Ontario, the useful number is the one for your exact profile, not a national average. QuoteCompass.ca shows dated sample premiums from 7 Canadian insurers. This article cites the live homepage example and nothing else.
The homepage sample (extracted August 23, 2026)
Profile: 35-year-old woman, non-smoker, $500,000, Term 20.
Sample monthly premiums shown on quotecompass.ca:
- Equitable Life of Canada: $22.50/mo
- Empire Life: $22.50/mo
- Foresters Financial: $22.95/mo
These are sample rates, subject to underwriting. Not all applicants qualify. Two carriers showed the same sample premium for this profile. That is not a claim that either one is cheapest for you, or that the other four insurers in the dataset (Canada Protection Plan, iA Financial Group, ivari, Manulife) priced higher or lower. See the full table for this cell at /rates/35-female-non-smoker-500k-term-20, or run your own age, sex, smoker status, coverage, and term at /quotes.
Why 35 is a common buying age
By 35 many Ontario households have a mortgage, a partner, or kids. Term 20 often lines up with the remaining mortgage or the years children still depend on income. Term 10 costs less per month for the same face amount because the insurer is on the risk for fewer years. Term 30 costs more per month and locks the rate longer. None of those is "better." Match the term to the years you actually need the death benefit.
What moves the premium besides age
Smoker vs non-smoker is a large split. Sex, face amount ($100k / $250k / $500k / $1M on this site), and term (10 / 20 / 25 / 30) all change the cell. Health, family history, and build are decided later, in underwriting. That is why a sample rate is a starting point, not a policy.
What this site does not do
QuoteCompass.ca does not invent a missing premium, does not call any insurer cheapest, and does not promise that you will be approved. A dash on a table means that carrier did not publish a rate for that exact cell.
