Ontario Term Life Insurance Sample Rate Data
Quick answer
This is a dated snapshot of term life sample premiums for Ontario, collected by hand from insurer advisor portals on and published as JSON. It covers 7 insurers across seven term lengths, four face amounts and ages 18–75. Each record is one exact combination an insurer prices, with the monthly figure that portal returned — nothing here is modelled, averaged or estimated. The download is free and carries no attribution requirement beyond the citation below.
What this data is not
- It is not a quote, an offer of insurance, or a rate you are entitled to. Every figure is a dated sample and is subject to underwriting.
- It is not a survey of the Canadian market. It covers the carriers listed below, in Ontario only, and only where a portal returned a rate for that combination.
- It is not live. Carriers reprice on their own schedule, so a dated sample is evidence of what was quoted then, not of today’s price.
- It is not advice. Eligibility, product features, conversion options and health-class definitions differ between carriers.

Field dictionary
Each file is an object with a term key and a rates array. Every array element uses these keys.
| Key | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
i | string | Insurer name as published in the advisor portal. |
p | string | Product name, where the carrier names one (for example a simplified-issue variant). |
a | integer | Age at application, 18–75. |
g | string | Sex used for pricing: "f" or "m". This is the carrier's pricing input, not necessarily the applicant's identity. |
s | boolean | Smoking status used for pricing. |
f | integer | Face amount in CAD (100,000 / 250,000 / 500,000 / 1,000,000). |
m | number | Monthly sample premium in CAD, as returned by the portal on the extraction date. |

}Method and limits
Records are extracted by hand from insurer advisor portals on the date stamped above; the set is rebuilt periodically rather than scraped continuously. Where a carrier does not publish a rate for a combination, or prices it only through a separately underwritten no-medical product, no record exists — a missing carrier is not a decline. Read the full methodology for source and comparison limitations, or see the Ontario rate study for a written analysis of the same extract.
