How we compare rates

Source and date

Our current sample data was extracted from insurer advisor portals on 2026-08-23. It covers Empire Life, Equitable, Foresters, iA, Manulife, ivari and Canada Protection Plan. It is a dated snapshot, not a live insurer offer or a survey of the entire Canadian market.

Comparing a profile

We match age, sex used for rating, smoking status, coverage and term exactly. Where multiple products match an insurer, profile tables show its lowest sampled monthly premium. Product names identify the underlying samples. Canada Protection Plan uses a different underwriting approach; its no-medical samples should be considered separately from medically underwritten products. Price alone does not establish equivalent coverage or eligibility.

What the figures mean

All premiums are in Canadian dollars and subject to underwriting. The yearly cost shown is twelve monthly payments, not an insurer’s annual-payment quote. A missing sample means our extract has no matching record; it does not establish that the insurer will decline your application. Manulife samples in this extract are non-smoker only. We do not fill gaps with estimated prices.

Your final offer

Health, occupation, travel, financial eligibility, policy features and the insurer’s current rules can affect the premium and availability. Review the policy and confirm the final offer with an advisor before making a decision.

How we are paid
